Accessibility statement
This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This page says what has been checked, what has not been checked yet, and how to tell us about a problem.
How the site is built
- Every page works without JavaScript. The clouds, the line and the operations bar are then not shown, and every word, link and the opening hours are still there, with the week's hours in place of the live status.
- A link at the top of every page skips straight to the main content.
- Whatever has keyboard focus has a clear outline: red on the paper, light in the sky.
- Text contrast is at least 4.5 to 1, and at least 3 to 1 for large text. The red line and the drawings are never the only way a fact is given, and no text sits on the lower part of the sky, where contrast would be too low.
- Every drawing has a text alternative or is marked as decorative. The map has a full description in words, and each route is also written out as a list.
- Every note in the margin repeats a fact that is in the text beside it.
- The operations status is read once, in words. Screen readers get the hours as a table, not a clock that changes every minute.
- Phone numbers are links that dial the number printed.
- Form fields have visible labels and hints. Errors are listed above the form and explained in words next to the field.
Motion
- The clouds on the home page drift. A control in the header on a phone, and at the foot of the sky on a desktop, pauses them.
- The line draws itself as you scroll, and the drawings trace themselves when it reaches them.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, nothing moves: the clouds are drawn once and stay still, the line and every drawing are complete from the start, and the operations bar appears without sliding.
- Nothing flashes.
What has been checked
- On every build, automatically: each page has a language, a title, a description, one main heading and a skip link; every form control has a label; every image has a text alternative; and no page carries an inline script or style.
- A review of the source and of screenshots, on [to confirm: the date of the source and screenshot review]: every page at phone and desktop widths, with and without reduced motion, checked for headings, link text, labels, text alternatives and focus outlines.
- Colour contrast: every pair of text and background colours in the design was calculated with the WCAG 2.2 formula when the design was made.
Not checked yet
These checks have not been carried out. Until they are, this site does not claim to pass them.
- Reading every page with a screen reader, on a computer and on a phone.
- Every page at 400% zoom, and on a screen 320 pixels wide.
- An automated scan with axe.
- Using every page with a keyboard alone, from start to finish.
When one of these is done, it moves to the list above with its date and what it found.
Known gaps
[to confirm: any gaps found when the site is checked. If none are found, this reads "None known."]
Report a problem
If something on this site does not work for you, or you need its information in another form, please say so: [to confirm: a real contact for the showcase, decided by the owner].
The phone numbers and example.com addresses elsewhere on this site belong to the fictional airport and reach no one. On a real airport's site, this section would give a number and an email that are answered, and the time to reply.
